Show: Shiny Steel
Location: Steffich Fine Art, Salt Spring Island BC
Date: July 19, 2019
We are excited to announce Peter McFarlane’s upcoming art showcase featuring 9 new works. Artist in Attendance.
"It’s rather remarkable to learn that McFarlane has only recently taken up steel carving to create the figures in the show, giving himself a new and difficult task. “Metal is a very slow process. It’s just days of carving,” he said. The time that’s required to create each small sculpture, though, has allowed him to forge a deeper connection with those figures. Shiny Steel may be just the beginning of a long and fruitful artistic inquiry."

"Any and all objects can be used to create something, to make and re-make what I find in the world. The process requires searching for the materials that will commit me to original work, and intimately connect me to a self-engendered vision."
